On July 22nd, 2010 we transmitted our first internet radio broadcast to a peak audience of about 36 listeners. Not bad for a first time show. It was a great show that was fun to produce and feedback has been extremely positive. For a long time we have been looking for an alternative to the traditional wedding DJ showcase. You know the type; where you hear an MC screaming and trying to get everyone to dance the Electric Slide…meanwhile you don’t even hear how the DJ actually plays the music. If you’re lucky you may hear only about 10 random songs. The entire thing is usually over in 15 minutes and you still don’t really know if the DJ is even truly familiar with the music you want.
Being specialist in multicultural celebrations we know that a 15 minute “presentation” does not give us enough time to “showcase” the wide variety of music and entertainment we have. After all every DJ can play “Suavemente” but how many can actually say they don’t need to play it and can offer good alternatives? Or how many DJs even know what type of music Compas is.
That’s where our new show comes in. Radio Elegancia is a two hour internet radio show that will allow us to offer a wide range of programming options. It is much more than a showcase of music. Although music will be the primary focus. Just like at a wedding or sweet 16, the music selection is spontaneous. Future episodes will include live interviews with members of the Elegancia staff, you’ll hear from past clients and their wedding stories, tips from event planners, and advice from other vendors. It’s a show that will give you a better insight into what Elegancia is all about. The program will evolve overtime based on new ideas and listener feedback.
